“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.” Jesus Christ – Matthew 12:25
President Abraham Lincoln quoted this in reference to the nation of America being divided during Civil War.
An early pledge was created in 1887 by Captain George T. Balch, a veteran of the Civil War, which was recited until the 1923 National Flag Conference, read:
“We give our heads and hearts to God and our country; one country, one language, one flag!”
The pledge that later evolved into the form used today was composed in August 1892 by Francis Bellamy (1855–1931)…
Bellamy’s original Pledge:
”I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”
indivisible, not divisible, not capable of being divided.
The phrase “one nation, under God” was incorporated into the Pledge of Allegiance on June 14, 1954. This was based on President Lincoln’s words, “under God”, added as defining words meant to set the US apart from other nations.
“Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His Face from you, that He will not hear… None call for Justice, nor do any plead for Truth: they trust in vanity and speak lies, they conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity… The way of peace they don’t know and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made themselves crooked paths: whosoever goes therein shall NOT know PEACE.” Isaiah 59:1-8
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His Wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is Just and that His Justice cannot sleep forever.” Thomas Jefferson, Notes in the State of Virginia
“When a nation goes down, or a society perishes, one condition may always be found; they forgot where they came from. They lost sight of what had brought them along.” Carl Sandburg, a Pulitzer Prize winning poet and author
“If we ever forget we are one nation under God, we will be a nation gone under.” President Ronald Reagan
“Take heed unto yourselves, lest you forget the Covenant of the LORD your God, which He made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of anything, which the LORD your God has forbidden you… When you shall beget children, and children’s children, and you shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt/defile yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of anything, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD your God, to provoke Him to Anger/Wrath:
26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto you go over to possess it; you shall not prolong your days upon it but shall utterly be destroyed. And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and you shall be left few in number among the heathen, where the LORD shall lead you. And there you shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. But if from there you shall seek the LORD your God, you shall find Him, if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
30 When you are in Tribulation and all these things are come upon you, even in the latter days, if you turn to the LORD your God and shall be obedient unto His Voice; (For the LORD your God is a merciful God) He will not forsake you, neither destroy you, nor forget the Covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.” Moses – Deuteronomy 4:23-30
And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him…
“If My people, which are called by My Name shall humble themselves and pray and seek My Face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear them and will forgive their sin and I will heal their Land…
But if you turn away, and forsake My statutes and My Commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods and worship them; Then I will pluck them up by the roots out of My land which I have given them; and this House, which I have sanctified for My Name, I will cast out of My sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. And this House, which is high, shall be an astonishment to everyone that passes by it; so that he shall say, ‘Why has the LORD done thus unto this Land and to this House?’ And it shall be answered, ‘Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore, He has brought all this evil upon them.” Almighty God – 2 Chronicles 7:12-14, 20-22
Sunday, May 17th a big ceremony is set to be held to ‘rededicate America as ‘One Nation Under God.” What a hypocritical nation! America needs to ‘Take heed to itself, because it has forgotten the Covenant a long time ago, and seek Him while He may be found!’
