“The Trumpet shall Sound” The Day of the Lord is Here! (Part II)

As in the Days of Lot

Jesus said what the Day of the Lord would be.

“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Adam is revealed.”

Luke 17:28-30
Sodom suffers the wrath of God

What was going on in the days of Lot?

“The men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.”

Genesis 13:13

Lot was Abraham’s nephew. He chose to live in Sodom with his family. When he got there, he found corrupt and unjust governmental and judicial systems and moral depravity of its inhabitants. They had prosperity yet abused of the poor and needy and as well as those who would help them.

“So then Sodom and Gomorrah are set forth as an example of suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”

Jude :7

“And if the LORD hadn’t left to us a very small remnant, we would be as Sodom and Gomorrah.”

Isaiah 1:9
In the Days of Moses

God brought the House of Israel out of the bondage of Egypt by the hand of Moses so they could worship Him. When they were found worshiping the Golden Calf, He said He would destroy them in the desert. But Moses pleaded for them saying:

“Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self and said to them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. And the LORD repented of the evil which He thought to do to His people.”

“And Moses turned, and went down from the mountain and the two tablets of the Law were in his hand… And the tablets were the work of God and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tablets.”

Exodus 32:13-16

God promised to send a prophet like unto Moses before the “Great and Dreadful Day of the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 18:15-19, Acts 3:22-26, Acts 7:35-37)

In the Days of King Solomon

Solomon, the son of David, built a Temple to the God of Israel. But then he married strange wives and his heart was turned to their gods. Because of this, Solomon was the last king to rule over the United Kingdom. The kingdom was then taken away and split into two houses. Ten tribes went to the House of Israel (Samaria) and two tribes to the House of Judah (Jerusalem). They lived in their own areas and had their own kings over them. All but a few did “evil in the sight of the LORD.” Then:

The Lost Sheep of the House of Israel

“In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria… For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had reverenced other gods, And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said to them, You shall not do this thing. Yet the LORD testified against Israel and against Judah, by all the prophets saying, Turn from your evil ways and keep My Commandments and My statutes, according to all the Law which I commanded your fathers and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.

But they would not hear… And they rejected His statutes and His Covenant that He made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until He had cast them out of His sight ”

2 Kings 17:6-20

“In the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel to Assyria, because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed His Covenant and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.”

2 Kings 18:10-12

Many have said that Israel assimilated with Assyria and became lost to history. Assyria was an empire of great military strength and the king was a despotic ruler.

The Blessing of Ephraim and Manasseh

From Assyria these people went north, escaping up over the Caucasus Mountains. Some went east and some to the west, peopling Europe and Britain. The word “Brit-ish” is “man of the Covenant” in Hebrew. After many years they sailed over the ocean to America and established what they called the “New World.”

When Jacob, who is Israel, was about to die, he blessed the sons of his son Joseph. He gave them the birthright, and said his name would be named on Ephraim (Gen 48). I tell you a mystery: Britain is Manasseh and America is Ephraim. Together they have ruled the world for quite some time. Ephraim has surpassed his elder brother in power and strength, thereby the “younger becoming greater than the elder.”

Today, America has become the most powerful and prosperous country in the history of the planet; and yet corrupt in her governmental and judicial systems, the most violent, unjust and debt-ridden country. They have remained a nation that does not obey the voice of the LORD their God. They have done far worse than their fathers before them. Because of their disobedience, their former glory has flown away, and the blessing they enjoyed has folded into the curse. A nation once looked up to by the other nations has gone down in shame and scorn in the eyes of the world.

Gathering Together

“And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you and you shall call them to mind among all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you, And shall return to the LORD your God and obey His voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul; Then the LORD your God will release you from your captivity, and have compassion upon you and will return and gather you from all the nations where the LORD your God has scattered you. If any of you are driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there He will fetch you:”

Deuteronomy 30:1-4
The Great Sound of a Trumpet

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God…”

1 Thessalonians 4:16

Jesus said: “Then shall appear the sign of the Son of Adam in heaven… And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his Elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things are fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

Matthew 24:30-33
The Promised Land

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your children may live: That you may love the LORD your God and that you may obey His voice, and that you may cleave unto Him: for He is your life, and the length of your days: that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

Deuteronomy 30:19-20
The Day of the Lord is Here!

“The Day of Judgment will be the end of this world and the beginning of the immortal world to come in which corruption has passed away,”

2 Esdras 7:43

“Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: Gather the people… And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.”

Joel 2:15-16, 32

“For, behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

But to you that reverence My Name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”

Malachi 4:1-2

“The Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Looking for and hastening to the coming of the Day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein righteousness dwells. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.”

2 Peter 3:10-14
Jerusalem Overture w Voice Over

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away. And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband… And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

Revelation 21:1-5
The Mighty One of Israel, by Randy Rothwell

“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hide themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

Revelation 6:15-17
