What does Passover have to do with Easter?

What does Easter have to do with Passover? In a word: nothing! Both “holy days” are celebrated in the Spring and both are described as “abomination” in God’s Word. These designations are all they have in common. Easter originated in ancient Babylon as the worship of the “god” Tammuz and his mother, Ishtar/Ashtoreth and while they say Passover originates in the Torah, when looked at closely there is little resemblance to what they do and what is contained in the Book of Exodus and all the Law. Hebrews 10:1, says “the Law is a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the thing.”

The Laws of the Covenant
“You shall not make to yourselves any graven image… You shall not bow down to them nor serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God…”
Exo 20:4-5

Light vs. Darkness

“Y’hoshua said, “…When a blind man and one who sees are both together in darkness, they are no different from one another.  When the light comes, then he who sees will see the light, and he who is blind will remain in darkness.”

He said that while he was in the world, he was the Light of the world. John 1:5 states, “The Light shines in darkness but the darkness does not comprehend it.”  I refer you to this link only for you to see the darkness perpetrated by the Jewish rabbis. It truly is an abomination when you see the Light and consider the Truth. But one must stand in the darkness in order to see the Light!

What is Passover? According to the Jews

I would like to begin by saying the rabbi in the video only refers to the “Jewish” people as God’s special chosen people that He brought out of the slavery of Egypt. The whole House of Israel is thereby completely disregarded and the only focus is on their own tribe without any explanation of who they are. This is an amazing omission which completely misses the point of the Exodus and the Passover and a glaring ignorance of what God’s Word is saying throughout.

The Story of Joseph

Anyone who has seen the play/movie, Joseph’s Technicolor Dreamcoat, has a general idea of how the story goes. Jacob, son of Isaac, son of Abraham, whose name was changed to Israel, had twelve sons.  Joseph was the first to go down to Egypt, being sold by his brothers because they were jealous of him. But as time went on, Joseph became Pharaoh’s right-hand man because of his knowledge and understanding. During this time he married and had two sons. When a severe famine came over all the land, through Joseph’s wisdom, Egypt was the only place to go to for food. So ten of Israel’s oldest sons went down to Egypt to buy food for their family. While they were there they were reunited with their brother and eventually the whole family moved down to Egypt and were given the very best place to live and were honored there because of Joseph.

Israel oppressed by Egypt and their Deliverance

After all the Patriarchs died there in Egypt, Pharaoh also died and another took his place. The new one was afraid of the children of Israel and he placed them in heavy labor to build up the defenses of Egypt. After some time they cried to God because of their situation and God sent Moses to them to deliver them from their hardships. Anyone who has seen the movie, The Ten Commandments, will be familiar with this story. Moses was sent to the pharaoh and told to “Let My people go!” When he refused he and his people suffered many calamities because of the hardness of his heart, but finally he relented and let them go after God sent plagues upon Egypt.  And so God gave Moses some very specific instructions on what to do to be spared God’s wrath and how to get ready to leave. As they left, the pharaoh decided to go after them and his men were drowned in the sea while Israel made it safely to the other side. And so the whole House of Israel, all twelve tribes left Egypt and then wandered in the desert for forty years because they disobeyed God’s Word delivered to them by Moses. Remember the golden calf? God was not happy with them!

The House of Israel Divided

Many times the Prophets in the Old Testament and the Apostles in the New Testament refer to God bringing the whole House of Israel up out of the bondage of Egypt. It’s a part of their history they share with one another. The nation wasn’t split until after the death of King David’s son, Solomon.  Then they became the ten tribes of the House of Israel and two tribes of the House of Judah. Around 722 BC Israel was taken captive into Assyria for their disobedience to God and about 520 BC Judah was taken captive by the Babylonians for the same reason. It is a great mystery to some as to what happened to Israel but generally well known that some of Judah returned to Judea after about 70 years in Babylon.

Where are those “Lost Sheep of the House of Israel?”

Y’hoshua was born in Judea about 500 years after the return of Judah. But he said he hadn’t been sent but to the “Lost Sheep of the House of Israel” (Matt 15:24). He had twelve apostles because there were twelve tribes of Israel. He sent them to the “Lost Sheep of the House of Israel” (Matt 10:6). Where did they go?

When the Blind lead the Blind!

Why would the Jewish rabbis make such grave errors in their teaching? Why would the Roman Catholic church make such grave errors in their teaching? Because they are both in darkness and can’t comprehend the Truth! When the blind lead the blind, won’t they all fall into a ditch?  Want to know the Light of the Truth of God’s Word?
