A Brief History of Christmas

As we live through the chaos of the last month of the year with most everyone preparing for the celebration of Christmas, it seems like a good time to review a Brief History of Christmas. You may be thinking that Christmas is a fundamental part of Christianity and you do this to praise God and his Son. It is, after all, one of the two most important holidays of the “Christian” calendar. There are, however, many facets of Christmas which are not part of mainstream Christian understanding. What we are about to cover may be something you have never considered, it may even seem offensive to some. But, before you turn the page, consider that Solomon in Proverbs said:

Proverbs 18:13 “He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame unto him.”

Solomon is simply pointing out what we all know is true. If you haven’t heard and considered both sides of the story you cannot make an informed decision. In fact, quite often, the harder an opposing opinion is to hear, the more important it is to hear it. Along with that, the Book of Deuteronomy, points out that it takes two or three witnesses to establish a matter.

Deuteronomy 19:15 “One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.”

So, to complete the Christmas story we are going to look at several examples from both Scripture and History that will allow you to decide what is the truth and what is the lie.

Prophecy Monthly – November 2023

November news headlines continued to be dominated by the War in the Middle East. The Israel-Hamas conflict had a momentary ceasefire only to erupt again. Protests around the world continued to show the divisions between governments and populations when it comes to the Middle East War. In other news; earthquakes and volcanic eruptions increased worldwide as the sun advances toward solar maximum. Lastly a gathering of World Leaders in San Francisco highlighted the hypocrisy of both governments and the media.

The following map is a summary of current events related to prophecy. Below the map you will find the event details and relevant Scriptural references. Many people have been taught God’s Word in the past tense. This is incorrect. The teachings and scenarios in the Bible and God’s Word are all prophetic, pointing to a future time, and that time is now.

What is Prophecy?

A prophecy points to a future event that has not yet happened. Religious leaders are famous for saying something that is not in God’s Word will happen, and then it never does. Two examples are rapture and the physical ‘second coming’ of Jesus. While so called ‘Christianity’ is focused on these ideas made up by men, they have completely turned a blind eye to the actual prophecies laid out by God and His Prophets.

“… the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if you say in your heart, How shall we know the Word which the LORD has not spoken? When a prophet speaks in the Name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously…”
Deuteronomy 18:20-22

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
1 John 4:1

God’s Prophecies

God’s prophecies are both warnings and indications of what time it is, in God’s time. He made these warnings all the way back from the times of Adam, Abraham, Moses, the Prophets and Jesus. These warnings and indications all point to the present age, a period of time, not a specific day or hour. It is time to pay attention to the events God pointed to thousands of years ago. We are seeing these prophecies fulfilled on a daily basis with an ever increasing clarity, exactly as He said we would.

“…the Lord knows all that may be known, and He beholds the signs (indications) of the world. He declares the things that are past, and for to come, and reveals the steps of hidden things.”
The Wisdom of Sirach 42:18-19

“Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.”
Isaiah 42:9

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done…”

Circumcision: A Cut to the Heart

Circumcision, like Baptism, has become a tradition, custom or requirement that differentiates greatly between the religions of the world. ‘Jews’ are well known adherents to a physical circumcision as a way to continue the Covenant of Circumcision between Abraham and God. Muslims consider circumcision an act of ‘purification’ and Christians are split on whether a physical circumcision is required. Catholics are against it and Orthodox Christians are for it. Many protestant Christians, like Catholics, see a water Baptism as the replacement or extension of Circumcision, but this approach varies between denominations.

Consider, as well, the discrepancies between government guidance on the issue. In the US, the government has framed circumcision as a health issue. World War II recruits were routinely circumcised. It is still a commonplace procedure for infants prior to leaving the hospital. Many parents support the practice in adherence to government health guidance. In 1965 over 85% of the US population circumcised male infants. That number has been dropping ever since. Meanwhile, several European countries have tried to outright ban the practice. With such a dizzying array of understanding and motivation for circumcision, has anyone actually cut to the heart of what God calls for?

An Epiphany

Many are anticipating the ‘epiphany’ or manifestation of the Messiah in these times of Tribulation. Christ himself revealed how he would manifest and to whom. This article will show the false and the true.

The word ‘epiphany’ is one of Greek origin. It is defined as; 1. to manifest or to show 2. an appearance or manifestation of a divine being 3. a sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something (as when something ‘dawns on you’, you suddenly or slowly perceive or understand).
