“Knowledge is Power”

The phrase “knowledge is power” has been attributed to Sir Francis Bacon (1597), an English statesman and philosopher. He is also known as the “father of empiricism.” Empiricism is a theory that states that knowledge comes only or primarily from sensory experience. It emphasizes the role of empirical evidence in the formation of ideas. ‘Empirical evidence’ is information that is acquired by observation or experimentation. The process is a central part of the scientific method. The Latin word for ‘knowledge’ is ‘science’. This is all derived from the wisdom of man. What kind of power can be gained with this method when the data can be so easily manipulated and those who speak the truth are censored and ostracized? They have forgotten the true source of knowledge and power.

“The reverence of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction… For the LORD gives wisdom. Out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.”

King Solomon – Proverbs 1:7, 2:6

“And if you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth’. You shall remember the LORD your God: for it is He that gives you power to get wealth…”

Moses – Deuteronomy 8:17-18

Thomas Jefferson had this Knowledge

Thomas Jefferson acknowledged that the members of the state legislature in his day had no perception of some important truths. How can one legislate without truth and knowledge? That would only make them ignorant and powerless to determine the correct path to take.

“This last establishment [a state university in Virginia] will probably be within a mile of Charlottesville, and four from Monticello, if the system should be adopted at all by our legislature who meet within a week from this time. My hopes however are kept in check by the ordinary character of our state legislatures, the members of which do not generally possess information enough to perceive the important truths, that knowledge is power, that knowledge is safety, and that knowledge is happiness.”

Thomas Jefferson, 1817

“Blessed/Happy is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the Law of the LORD; and in His Law he does meditate day and night.. For the LORD knows the way of the Righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

King David – Psalms 1

The phrase “scientia potentia est” is a Latin aphorism meaning “knowledge is power”. The related phrase “sapientia est potentia” is translated as “wisdom is power”.

In Latin these words are defined as: Scientia, knowledge, the systematic knowledge of the physical or material world. Physics is the science of nature.
Potentia, political power, supremacy, power, might, ability, control, ability, esp. political supremacy, dominion, the authority of the magistrate, an officer or magistrate.

‘Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince/Magistrate of this world comes, and has nothing in me. But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me Commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.”

Jesus Christ – Gospel of John 14:30-31

This quote has been used as a motto in the seal of The Information Awareness Office (IAO). This is an agency established by the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in January 2002. The purpose was to bring together several DARPA projects focused on applying surveillance and information technology to track and monitor terrorists and other asymmetric threats to U.S. national security by achieving “Total Information Awareness” (TIA).

"Knowledge is Power"
“Scientia Est Potentia”

“This was achieved by creating enormous computer databases to gather and store the personal information of everyone in the United States, including personal e-mails, social networks, credit card records, phone calls, medical records, and numerous other sources, without any requirement for a search warrant. This information was then analyzed to look for suspicious activities, connections between individuals, and “threats”. Additionally, the program included funding for biometric surveillance technologies that could identify and track individuals using surveillance cameras and other methods.”

‘Did you never read in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?”

Jesus Christ – Matt 21:42, Psalms 118:22

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the surveillance industry to new heights. The idea of a ‘vaccine passport’ with the issuance of a unique QR-code and digital ID to every citizen making it possible to track and trace for a permanent record and a knowledge of everything good and evil done by every person. This is the knowledge from which they derive their power.

Knowledge of God is Power

Man has erred in their understanding of Scripture not knowing the power of God. The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God, because His ways are far above their ways.

That your faith/truth should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect/complete: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes/chief rulers/magistrates of this world, that comes to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes/chief rulers/magistrates of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.”

1 Corinthians 2:5-9

Knowledge of the Truth

“Do not let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD which exercises loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth: for in these things I delight, says the LORD.”

Thus saith the LORD – Jeremiah 9:23-24

“I thank You, O Father, LORD of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither does any man know the Father, save the Son, and he to whom soever the Son will reveal him.”

Jesus Christ – Gospel of Matthew 11:25-30

The Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge

God created Adam on the sixth day. He then placed him in the Garden of Eden where he transgressed God’s command.

“And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Tree of Life also in the midst of the garden, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.”

“And the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.’”

Genesis 2:9, 15-17

Happy is the man that finds Wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things you can desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a Tree of Life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retains her.”

King Solomon – Proverbs 3:13-19

“He taught me also and said to me, ‘Let your heart retain My words: keep My Commandments, and live. Get Wisdom, get understanding: don’t forget it; neither decline from the words of My mouth. Do not forsake her and she shall preserve you: love her, and she shall keep you.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote you: she shall bring you to honor, when you do embrace her. She shall give to your head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.”

King Solomon – Proverbs 4:4-9

Knowledge of God and Jesus Christ

“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith/truth with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as His divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that has called us to glory and virtue:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust/greed. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; to patience godliness; To godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love.

For if these things are in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.”

2 Peter 1:1-9

knowledge, Grk. epignosis, precise and correct knowledge, knowledge of things ethical and divine, absolute, recognition, full discernment, acknowledgment

The Workers of Iniquity have no Knowledge

“Every plant, which my heavenly Father has not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”

Jesus Christ – Gospel of Matthew 15:13-14

“Not every one that says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, haven’t we prophesied in your Name? in your Name have cast out demons? and in your name done many wonderful works?’ And then it will be said to them, ‘I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.’

Jesus Christ – Gospel of Matthew 7:21-23

“And even as they did like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not appropriate.”

Paul – Romans 1:28

“Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Paul – 2 Timothy 3:7

The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. All are gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that does good, no, not one. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up My people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the LORD. There they were in great fear: for God is in the generation of the Righteous.”

A Psalm of David – Psalm 14:1-5

“As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, no, not one’. There is no one that understands, there is no one that seeks after God. All are gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that do good, no, not one.”

Paul – Romans 3:10-12

Solomon asked for Wisdom and Knowledge

King Solomon asked God for an understanding heart in order to judge and rule His people in truth and righteousness. He became renown for the wisdom he possessed.

“And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding great, and largeness of heart/understanding, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men …and his fame was in all nations round about. And he spoke three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

He spoke of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springs out of the wall: he spoke also of cattle, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.”

1 Kings 4:29-34

The Wisdom of Solomon

“The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings/proverbs. The reverence of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Proverbs 1:1-7

The Messiah of Righteousness

King Solomon, being the son of David, was a shadow of the Messiah, the Branch of David. He is prophesied to come at the time of the end, that promised prophet like unto Moses, to deliver us from evil/wrongdoing.

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the reverence of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the reverence of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

But with righteousness he shall judge the poor/weak and reprove with equity for the meek/humble of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins… They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My Holy Mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”

Isaiah 11:1-9

That is the power/authority and understanding that comes from the wisdom and knowledge of God! Hallelujah!!
