The Albigensian Crusade (1209–29) was called for by Pope Innocent III against the Cathars, a community in the south of France, whom the Roman Catholic Church had branded heretical. The war pitted the nobility of staunchly Catholic northern France against that of the south.
For all of its violence and destruction, the Albigensian Crusade failed to remove the Cathar heresy from Languedoc. It did, however, provide a solid framework of new secular governors willing to work with the church against the heretics. They were promised indulgences and whatever property or belongings they could confiscate. Through the subsequent efforts of the Inquisition, established by the papacy to try heretics, Catharism was virtually eliminated in Languedoc within a century. Many false accusations were made against them. ‘Cathar’ means purified, same as the ‘Puritans.’ They were also known as the Albigensians for the area of Albi where they lived.
Cathar Massacre at Béziers,
The massacre at Béziers began on July, 22 1209, the Feast of Mary Magdalene. It was a brutal massacre, the first major battle in the Albigensian Crusade. The French city of Béziers, where the Cathars resided, was burned down and 20,000 residents killed after a papal legate, the Abbot of Cîteaux, declared, “Slaughter them all!”

Coincidentally, the same verbiage is also included in the Jesuit oath of obedience to the pope. The Order of the Jesuits was founded in 1540 to counter the Protestant Reformation that swept though Europe in the 1500s. As the Inquisition continued, many more Christians were massacred.

The Cathar Prophecy
In the year 1321 a prophecy was made by the last of the Cathars as he was being led to his death to be burned at the stake in the South of France. The genocide was complete, or so they thought. It was a time that changed the World.

Indeed, the unity and the “glory” of the Roman Catholic ‘Church’ and of France were obtained by means of massacres and burning at stakes of Christians.

Sol Invictus (Classical Latin: “Unconquered Sun”) was long considered to be the official sun god of the later Roman Empire. Invictus (“unconquered, invincible”) was an epithet utilized for several Roman deities, including Jupiter, Mars, Hercules, Apollo, and Silvanus. It had been in use from the 3rd century BC. The Roman cult to Sol is continuous from the “earliest history” of the city until the institution of the ‘Christian’ cult as the exclusive state religion. Constantine decreed (March 7, 321) DIES SOLIS — the day of the Sun, “Sunday” — as the Roman day of rest.

The Roman Caesar Augustus was the ‘Pontifex Maximus’ in the time of Jesus Christ. The Romans occupied Judea at that time and crucifixion was their mode of capital punishment for non-citizens. Many early Christians were persecuted and killed for refusing to worship the Caesar and his Roman gods. Apparently they thought Jesus was comparing himself to Caesar when he said he was the “Son of the Living God”. Tiberius is pictured here wearing a wreath of laurel leaves, a symbol of victory, on his head. At the time of the Cathars, the Roman pope was the Pontifex Maximus (“Supreme Pontiff”) as it is this day.

Who were the Cathars?
The ‘Cathars’ or ‘Cathari’ were a community of people who claimed to have ‘Apostolic Succession’ in that they were the offspring of Mary Magdalene and Jesus along with the group, including Joseph of Arimathea, that landed in Marseilles, France after the death of Christ. Some went from there to Britain. They were labeled ‘heretics’ by the papacy of the Roman Catholic church because they were a threat to the authority of Rome. In fact, they represented the biggest threat to the Roman Catholic church ever! These were the true followers of Christ manifest. They went to their death in obedience to him, to and for the Word of God. The pope said they had taken the teachings of Christ ‘too far’!
