Two Great Lights

On Earth as it is in Heaven

The Righteous

The ‘Beatitudes’ address those who are: “poor, in spirit; they that mourn; the meek; those who hunger and thirst for righteousness; the merciful; pure in heart; the peacemakers; persecuted for righteousness’ sake.” Y’hoshua said to those people, “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so did they persecute the prophets who were before you… You are the Light of the world, a city set on a mountainto give light to all that are in the houseLet your Light shine before the people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven. That’s in Matthew chapter 5. It sounds like he’s talking to the children of God who are the “Lights of the world.” In fact in Romans 8:19 Paul says, “For the earnest expectation of the whole creation waits for the manifestation of the children of God!” Now that’s amazing! Where can these people be? Who is expecting them?

What or Who is the Firmament?

If we look to the Nelson’s Bible Dictionary to find out about the Firmament, it tells us it is an “expanse of sky and space in which the stars and planets are set.” Genesis tells us that God made the Firmament on the second day of creation to divide the waters above from the waters below (Gen 1:6).” and “…on the fourth day of creation God placed the stars, the sun, and the moon in the “Firmament of the heavens.” (Gen 1:15-18).

The Seed of Abraham

The Firmament reflects the greatness of God who created it. God made a Covenant many years ago with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and his seed that keep His Commandments.

God’s Covenant with Abraham

“The Firmament shows forth His handiwork.” (Ps 19:1).

In the Day of Tribulation, a time such as there never has been, God’s people will be delivered from evil, and “those who are wise, shall shine as the brightness of the Firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever.” (Dan 12:1-3).

“After this manner you pray, ‘My Father, who is in Heaven, Holy is Your Name; Your kingdom come, Your Will be done, upon earth as it is in heaven… and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…” -Jesus, Mat 6:9

The Firmament

The Firmament is spoken of in the beginning.
It is to come at the end,
so that the first becomes the last
and the last first.
It contains the Lights of Heaven.
The Greater, the Lesser and the Stars also.
Its purpose is to separate darkness from Light,
for darkness can not have with Light.

The spiritual works of the marvelous Firmament are purified with salt. They are spirits of knowledge, truth and righteousness in the Holy of Holies, forms of the living angels, forms of the light giving spirits. -DSS 4Q405 19

“Moreover the light of the Moon shall be as the light of the Sun, and the light of the Sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD binds up the breach of His people, and heals the stroke of their wound.” – Isaiah 30:26

“And after six days Jesus takes Peter, James and John… and  bringht them up into an high mountain apart, and was  transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the Sun…” – Matthew 17:1-2

Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it  is day: the night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” – John 9:4-5

“And there shall be signs in the Sun and in the Moon and in the Stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them because of fear and because of seeing those things which are coming on the earth: and then shall they see the Son of Adam coming in the clouds with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near!” – Luke 21:25-28

Jesus was the light of the world, the Sun, the light of day, and he spoke of a night that was coming. Who then are the lights by night, the Moon and the Stars? And what will they do to the wicked shepherds, the wicked hirelings in the vineyard of the LORD, and the thieves in the Temple?
