Historical information from a biblical perspective in order to better understand the present and the future. If we don’t learn from our past we are doomed to repeat it and where there is no vision, the people perish.
Christmas, December 25th, is celebrated as the day Jesus was born. How did this come to be? Is this celebration a violation of God’s Commands?
Scholars have filled many books with arguments as to when Jesus was born. Nowhere in Scripture is any significance given to a person’s date of birth. It was not until the third century that the festival of Christmas was heard of. It did not gain observers until well into the fourth century. The first recorded “Christian” Christmas celebration on December 25th was in Rome in 336AD. However, by this time, most other religions in the empire were already celebrating the birth of their gods on December 25th. They had been doing so for centuries.
Santa Claus seems to be a kind old man bearing gifts. But parents completely ignore the fact that the origins of this character are paganism, materialism, consumerism and pedophilia. They willingly hand their children over to it.
Roman Catholic Bishop Nicholas, “patron saint of children and altar boys”. He now comes in many different colors.
There is rampant pedophilia within the Roman Catholic clergy and has been for quite some time. It should be easy to make the connection between the massive child abuse and this custom of giving the children over to such a ‘god-man’ who “knows if they’ve been bad or good”?
The image of “Santa Claus” is merely a marketing ploy to make the merchants of the earth rich. The children are taught to “pray” to him as a “false god” for all their wants and wishes and to believe that if they’re “good” their wishes will be fulfilled. It is idolatry and evil in the eyes of God and it only serves to provoke Him to anger!
Thanksgiving is not a Holy Day from God. It is a National Holiday created for the purpose of celebrating war victories. The Thanksgiving narrative taught today differs greatly from the original presidential proclamations. The “first Thanksgiving” in 1621, is portrayed as a three-day harvest celebration between the pilgrims and the Native American Indians. Most accounts neglect to acknowledge what happened next in history. The Indians were driven from their lands and massacred. This was hardly the start of a period to remember with thankfulness. The “discovery” of America turned into the start of many wars in a new land.
October 31st, 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. Five hundred years ago, Martin Luther published his 95-theses document challenging doctrines of the Catholic church. The importance placed on the practice of selling indulgences, the false security it gave to those who purchased them and the true destination of the collected money offended Luther.
Martin Luther’s 95 Theses
Martin Luther’s 2nd thesis states “This word (“repent”) cannot be understood as referring to the sacrament of penance, that is, confession and satisfaction, as administered by the clergy.” Thesis 35 states “They who teach that contrition is not necessary on the part of those who intend to buy souls out of purgatory or to buy confessional privileges, preach unchristian doctrine.”
God speaks in mental pictures. If you consider the relationship between a man and a woman as a similitude of the relationship between God and His people, you can understand how He feels when His woman gives her good stuff to another. In many different places, God makes mention of Israel as His wife and He is as her husband.
In Ezekiel, chapter 23, Israel – the northern kingdom of Samaria is spoken of as Ahola and her sister Judah is as Aholibah. First Ahola committed whoredoms with the Assyrians and she defiled herself with idols. Hence; idolatry is equated with committing adultery against God. When Aholibah /Judah saw this, she did more in her whoredoms than her sister.
Both of these sisters committed whoredoms in that they turned away from their husband and doted after other gods. For this reason, their God gave them over to their lovers and their ways. For this reason, they have been oppressed and given over to all manner of suffering. But if they return to Him, He has promised to take them back.
They say, if a man put away his wife and she goes from him and become another man’s, shall he return unto her again? Shall not that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, says the Lord.
Lift up your eyes unto the high places, and see where you have not been lain with. In the ways you have sat for them as the Arabian in the wilderness; and you have polluted the land with your whoredoms and with your wickedness.
