Apostles Refute the Apostles’ Creed

The Apostles Creed is recited across many of the “Christian” religions.  This creed is a “statement of faith” often used as part of baptismal ceremonies.  In the previous article on this subject, we showed that the apostles themselves would not even know the Apostles Creed.  It was fabricated three hundred years after Jesus and the Apostles under the influence of Babylonian, Greek, and Roman worship practices.  These practices are contrary to God’s Word.

Let’s look more closely at this creed and at what Jesus and the Apostles themselves had to say.  To begin, what exactly is the creed?

“Apostles” Creed

“I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again, he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.  Amen”

Conceived by the Holy Spirit?

Was Jesus conceived by the Holy Spirit?  No.  “Christian” religions think the Holy Spirit is a ghost that flies around, apparently impregnating lucky women.  Mary isn’t the only one that has supposedly been impregnated by a spirit.  Look back through Babylonian, Greek and Roman mythology for this same scenario of conception by spirits.  But what did the Apostles say?  Looking to a book called the Gospel of Philip found in the Nag Hammadi Library, the following is found:

Gospel of Phillip :12   “Some said, “Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit.” They are in error.  They do not know what they are saying.  When did a woman ever conceive by a woman? …”

Interesting!  There is much more to this verse, much more than can be covered here.  The bottom line is the Holy Spirit didn’t impregnate Mary.

Virgin Mary?

To be clear, Jesus had a father, Joseph.  He also had a mother, Mary.  Mary was not a virgin, she became pregnant the same way every woman before and after her has. The word virgin in the the Bible also means maiden or damsel.  God did not create sex and then change his mind about it to make it a sin.  What organization condemns and vilifies sex?  The Roman Catholic Church does, they call sex a sin unless specific criteria are met.  It is absurd for an organization of supposedly celibate men to tell the world how to live their sex lives.

Something else to consider is the genealogy of Jesus.  Who do they trace it through?  Not Mary, but through Joseph.  How can one trace the genealogy of Jesus through Joseph his father, if Joseph wasn’t actually his father?  Something is not right here!

Die and then Rise?

What about this idea of Jesus resurrecting after he died.  Again, we are going to look to the Gospel of Philip from the Nag Hammadi Library:

Gospel of Philip :15  “Those who say that the Lord died first and then rose up are in error, for he rose up first and then died. …”

Gospel of Philip :74  “Those who say they will die first and then rise are in error.  If they do not first receive the resurrection while they live, when they die they will receive nothing. …”

But how do you obtain the resurrection while you live?  There are two resurrections and neither of these applies to dead people in the graveyards rising out of the ground.

“…they that have done good, to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.” John 5:29

“Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power…”  Revelation 20:6

Catholic Church?

The word Catholic does not exist in the Bible.  The apostles mention it at no time.  The word catholic means universal, and the church would like the world to believe that their version of “Christianity” is for the whole world, universal.  But what did Jesus tell the apostles?

“I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the House of Israel.”  Matthew 15:24

“These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles/heathen, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”  Matthew 10:5-6

Forgiveness of Sins

Jesus came to correct the transgressions of those before him and going on around him.  He said to “follow me” in learning what he said and doing what he did.  To repent for something means to turn away from it, it does not mean that you can ask for forgiveness for something and then keep on doing it. Today people are taught that anytime you sin, just “give it to Jesus.”  That’s insane!

“The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the Righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.”  Ezekiel 18:20

People teach Jesus came so all would be forgiven, regardless of what the Old Testament teaches.  Jesus himself said otherwise.

“Don’t think that I am come to destroy the Law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”  Matthew 5:17

Now, if you sin after learning what that sin is, there is no more forgiveness.  Barnabas made this clear in Hebrews:

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins.”  Hebrews 10:26

The key, is understanding what sin is.

Deceivers Work Iniquity

In conclusion, Jesus said that there would be many deceivers saying “Lord, Lord.”  In other words, they would claim to represent or follow Jesus and God.  To this Jesus responds:

“Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the Will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, haven’t we prophesied in your Name? in your Name have cast out demons? and in your Name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.”  Matthew 7:21-23

The ones who have deceived the world with the “Apostle Creed” are the workers of iniquity. Jesus and the Apostles oppose the content of the creed. Get away from those teaching this creed and look into God’s Word for your self.
